Can you get a DUI for CBD?

Quality, legal CBD products contain less than 0.2% THC, which is the compound from the cannabis plant that causes the high that makes marijuana illegal. In such low doses, you will not experience any psychoactive effects, and so you shouldn’t be able to get a DUI when taking CBD. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t, and here’s why.

What can go wrong?

The problem is that when you look online, there are so many CBD products available that it can be difficult to decide which is right for you. Unfortunately, many of the products you will find online do not meet the stringent requirements in EU law that differentiate a legal CBD product from an illegal one. If you purchase an unreliable product and it hasn’t been certified as legal in the EU, the THC content may well be higher and you could find yourself being pulled over and found to be driving under the influence. The simplest solution is to make sure you only purchase CBD products from trustworthy stockists and ensure they are compliant with existing regulations.

CBD and driving

Balance is the key with CBD products. If you are taking CBD in a dosage that is too high, it is possible that you will experience drowsiness and fatigue as a side effect. You need to learn how your body reacts to CBD oil before you try driving, or operating any other heavy machinery for that matter. Everybody is a little different, and what might be an effective dosage for one person may not be for another. Explore different dosages to find what works for you – you should feel more alert on CBD, not drowsy, so if you are feeling the latter you should think about decreasing your dosage.

Why take CBD?

While there is still lots of research and study that needs to be done, there is a growing body of evidence that a healthy, properly-functioning endocannabinoid system (ECS) may help your body fight stress and certain diseases, as well as elevating your general mood and overall wellness. There is also research that suggests taking CBD may help improve the function of your ECS to enjoy these benefits. Advocates of CBD are increasing day by day, and the health benefits they claim are definitely worth exploring for yourself.

Always check with your doctor before taking CBD, as it can interact negatively with other medications.
