What things CBD oil can be used for?

CBD oil – or cannabidiol – has been hailed by many as a super-supplement, which can do everything from easing pain to brightening skin! It has been used by athletes, as a means of reducing muscle inflammation, and by wellness gurus who claim it aids sleep and reduces anxiety.

CBD oil is affordable, natural and easy to take. It can be used as a supplement to your cooking oil, or simply dropped under the tongue for even quicker absorption. In a cream or balm, it can be rubbed into sore joints and muscles, or added to moisturizer and massaged into the skin. CBD oil can also be inhaled through an e-cigarette or vape pen, although preliminary research suggests that this may be the least effective way of taking the supplement.

As CBD oil becomes more widely used, it is worth looking at some of the many ways in which CBD oil can be used in everyday life….

1. Anti-anxiety

CBD binds to the brain’s cannabinoid and serotonin receptors, helping to soothe the effects of anxiety and depression and prevent new feelings of anxiety from forming.

2. Pain relief

One of the most significant uses of CBD oil is as a painkiller. Some studies have found that CBD intake affects endocannabinoid receptor activity, which can reduce inflammation and minimize the brain’s ability to register pain. Any anti-inflammatory drug will also help to ease the source of any muscular or vascular pain by speeding up the healing process.

3. Sleeping aid

CBD oil is a popular herbal alternative to sleeping pills. The relaxing properties of the oil can aid a good night’s sleep.

4. Chemotherapy side-effects

Chemotherapy comes with a lot of unwanted side-effects such as nausea, inflammation and insomnia, and CBD oil can be effective in treating all of them. CBD oil is often taken by cancer patients to improve appetite, reduce chemo-related sickness and improve the patient’s ability to relax and get a good night’s sleep. More recently, some studies have also found that it may have cancer-fighting properties as well.

5. Acne reduction

As an anti-inflammatory, CBD oil can be used to treat painful acne. Although it is an oil, it has anti-sebum properties which mean that it will not block pores or make break-outs worse.

6. Treatment for MS and epilepsy

Cannabis oil has received a lot of press for its alleged epilepsy-fighting qualities, but it is important to distinguish between cannabis oil and CBD oil. Cannabis oil contains THC, which is a separate cannabinoid that also comes with a psychoactive effect. CBD oil is not a psychoactive drug, but as an anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving supplement, it may be able to reduce muscle spasms and seizures.
